Stamps The extensive stamp collection can be divided into four parts: Polish stamps, stamps issued by the Polish underground (“Solidarity” and other organizations) from 1980 to 1990; Polish-interest stamps, and U.S.A. and other foreign stamps.
The Polish stamp collection (still being developed) includes both canceled stamps from 1918 until today on special album cards, First Day of Issue envelopes and postcards, and stamps of the Polish Second Corps field post offices. The
stamps of the Underground post offices (over 2000) on 350 album cards have been sorted by 20 subject areas, including Pilsudski, Religious motives, Stalin’s crimes, militaria, etc. The Polish-interest collection includes a complete collection of publications by Polonus, the oldest Polish philatelic society of
Chicago, and other clubs, including a sizeable collection from Canada. The U.S.A. collection consists of stamps from the 1930s until the present time, with First Day of Issue envelopes and postal cards, including the United Nations. The other foreign stamps from many lands are arranged chronologically by dates of
issue.
Postcards
These were assembled from gifts of members and sympathizers of the Institute and are arranged by subject areas which enable viewers to appreciate the beauty of Poland. Here are the subjects: towns and villages of Poland, Warsaw, Polish landscapes, Eastern Borderlands, patriotic souvenirs, art, holy days in wartime,
and a large collection of over 700 postcards issued in series during the time of the Legions, and of Marshal Jozef Pilsudski during various periods of his life and political or military activity.
