We are grateful for another exceptional 9th edition of “Museum Night” dedicated to the art collection of the Józef Piłsudski Institute as an expression of identity.
Our special guest, Dr. Karol Jóźwiak, spoke about what connects the individual works within the collection into one coherent narrative. He reflected on the balance between what is unique and individual and what is universal — emphasizing how shared symbols, memory, and values help shape cultural identity and community.
The Institute’s art collection tells the story of Poland from the era of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth through the end of World War II, while maintaining remarkable cohesion. The Institute’s principal donors, Aleksander Meleń-Korczyński and Stanisław Jordanowski, contributed works of art that not only hold great artistic value, but also beautifully complement the Institute’s archival and library collections, preserving the memory of Polish history, culture, and values.
