During the meeting the Awards recipients will discuss their scholarly work, academic research and professional experiences educating American public about history and culture of Poland.
Prof. Neal Pease, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, recipient of Wacław Jędrzejewicz History Award - historian, an associate of prof. Anna Cienciała and prof. Piotr Wandycz. Over the course of his career, prof. Pease has devoted most of his research and publication to the role of the Catholic Church in recent Polish history. He actively participates in the Polish–American scholar exchange and dedicates his time to professional Polonia organizations.
Prof. Bill Johnston, Indiana University, recipient of Joseph Conrad Literature Award - translator of Polish literature, who published over thirty book-length translations including classics by Adam Mickiewicz, Juliusz Słowacki, and Jan Kochanowski; nineteenth and twentieth century fiction by Witold Gombrowicz, Stefan Żeromski, and Bolesław Prus; the poetry of Julia Fiedorczuk, Tomasz Różycki, and Tadeusz Różewicz; and contemporary writing by Magdalena Tulli, Wiesław Myśliwski, Andrzej Stasiuk and Jerzy Pilch.
