The Institute actively develops its cultural and educational program. At least twice a month, on Tuesdays’ evenings, we organize free cultural meetings with writers, scientists, artists, and screenings of historical documentary movies in our Ziuk cinema. Recently, we have shown the following films: Building Urban America, Do Not Cry When I Leave, New Poland, Cross and Crown. We host an average of 25 meetings yearly, with an audience of about 3,000 people.
Additionally, the Institute becomes the place to visit for younger generations. We organize history lesson and presentations of our collections for scouts and Polish supplementary schools’ students. One can see memorabilia of the Polish army, medals, military decorations, uniforms and artworks of the greatest Polish painters of the 19th and 20th century. We also cooperate with American schools, last year the Institute became a partner of the Polish-English Dual Language Program at P.S.34 in Greenpoint. Before Christmas or Easter, we organize very popular artistic workshops for children and teenagers, when we show Polish traditions to the younger generation.
